Design Story
Regal Robot’s official Indiana Jones -inspired décor finds great elements within the movies and series we love and lets you bring them into your home in new and exciting ways! The vintage art used on this plaque comes from the Lucasfilm image archives and is one of the earliest designs from the production of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark™.
This particular image was the first of four famous concept sketches by legendary comic artist, Jim Steranko. In the book, The Complete Making of Indiana Jones, they list the original notes sent in requesting this painting – “Painting #1…should be inside an Inca-type temple with snakes on the floor and spiders on the walls. Our hero should be dressed in…khaki pants, gun belt, leather jacket… felt hat with brim turned down.” The final result captures that nicely and shows just how quickly they dialed in the final look of the character.
